Ute Bauer

Artist and educator, Ute Bauer has found through sculpture the highest expression of her art. In her own words, Ute shares with us how, quite early in life, her search was directed “to reproduce the depth of the human soul”. This led her to engage in research on the delicate boundaries between health and illness, and the healthy or altered attitudes of human beings. The opportunity presented itself in the shape of Unicist Homeopathy through which she began her effort to locate the “guiding thread” capable of leading to the specific image of the patient and his/her illness, that image found in the pathogenesis of each medication.

“I strive to express through art the picture of this image, or its synthesis, the substance intrinsic to the medication or to the patient who needs it. Stimulus for my work comes from the research I carry out to comprehend that substance, that permanence, that deep central theme of each medication, driving force of health or illness in each individual’s path, which I materialize through my creations, the sculptures.”

Her interpretations (poems and “homeosculptures”) are based mainly on the research work carried out by the Masist groups, in particular those belonging to the AFADH — Association Française pour l'Approfondissement de la Doctrine Homéopathique.

To belong

It all seems incoherent
The echoing of words in his/her ears,
The surroundings and variations in the environment,
How to make things become coherent?
How to become one with, how to find his/her ties with someone or with the world?
Creating bonds and
Cultivating relationships
Allows one to exist and belong.

Letting go

The mother in the cold winter of parting
Believes in the spring flowers of her daughter;
The daughter gets ready to say good-bye to her mother;
The son on his own, without ties.
When fear’s birdlime paralyzes us
To be able to let go, we need to place our trust in the unknown!
